Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) is Tanzania's busiest airport, with direct flights from Europe, the Middle East and across Africa, located about 12 km southwest of the city centre.

Domestic carriers such as Precision Air, Air Tanzania and Coastal Aviation link Dar to Zanzibar, Arusha, Mwanza and the southern parks, while the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) runs inland from the Dar terminus toward Morogoro and Dodoma.
