Destination guide

Serengeti

Endless plains and the stage of the great wildebeest migration

How to get there

Getting to Serengeti

However you're arriving β€” from overseas, from another part of Tanzania, or just moving around once you're here.

Flying in from abroad

International visitors

Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) near Arusha, the main gateway for the northern circuit.

From elsewhere in Tanzania

Upcountry & other cities

Light aircraft fly daily from Arusha to Serengeti airstrips including Seronera (SEU), Kogatende and Grumeti, the fastest way in; many visitors also drive via Ngorongoro.

Getting around locally

Once you're in the region

Within the park, travel is by 4x4 safari vehicle with a guide, with balloon flights available at dawn over the central plains.

Want the door-to-door leg handled? Travel with a driver who knows the roads.
