Flying in from abroad
International visitors
Fly into Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) near Stone Town, then transfer by road about one hour east to Paje or Jambiani; some visitors arrive by Azam Marine ferry from Dar es Salaam and drive across.
From elsewhere in Tanzania
Upcountry & other cities
From Dar es Salaam take the Azam Marine fast ferry (about two hours) or a short flight on Coastal, Auric or ZanAir into Zanzibar, then continue by road to the southeast coast.
Getting around locally
Once you're in the region
Private transfers and taxis link the coast to the airport and Stone Town; shared daladalas run along the main road, and bicycles and scooters are popular for getting between Paje and Jambiani.
